House Mouse 'Donut Bliss 2002'

Last card of the day... Male maybe, female... definitely.

Anyway, whether it's a male card or not, I had great fun making it.

First, I stamped the image onto plain white card and then coloured in Muzzy the Mouse with my Promarkers and coloured Derwent Watercolour pencils. I didn't bother blending them with the Sansodor as the finished result looked okay as it was.  I then mounted the image onto peach coloured card stock and added some folded peach gingham ribbon pieces (keeping to the 'odd number' rule).  I then mounted that onto brown coloured card stock (although it looks black in the picture...sorry).

I used double sided sticky tape to then add the whole thing to the scalloped base card stock and then inked up a Hero Arts clear sentiment, which I stamped straight onto the base card in the bottom, right corner. Hope you like it? And, I do think I could still give this to a man, despite the peachiness of the colour scheme. Once the whole thing was put together, I then added some 'glossy accents' to the glaze of the doughnut and left it to dry flat.

TIP: Always leave glossy accents somewhere flat to dry (preferably overnight), the slightest dip or uneveness of the surface it is left on, will result in the liquid 'pooling' and the final result won't be as impressive.

Peaches and Cream

Following on the PLEATS theme but not entering this one into the Crazy 4 Fun Challenge, this is a really cute image that was purchased from e-bay (due to it's cuteness and unavailability anywhere!!!), I carried on with pleating the ribbon as I thought the effect on the previous card was really effective and very pretty, what a wonderful idea (not mine, all credit goes to Mercy Kerin, DT member of Crazy 4 Challenges Blog).

Anyway, I'm also a really big fan of sepia and although I couldn't accurately re-create this with the cardstock I have at home, I did have some really pale pinky beige card and the flower. The lips on the ribbon are maybe a little two pink but believe me it looks really nice in real life, the photo really isn't doing it very much justice. Lianne, my daughter, asked me to make it for her friend Sharna, whose birthday it is tomorrow and she had forgotton to ask me to make one, so I had to do a little bit of a rush job, but I still like it though.

Lianne liked it and as it was she who commissioned it AND has actually paid me to do it (ha ha ha lol) she was pleased with the overall finished result.

NOT a card...

Recipe is as follows:

• One candle (a white or cream one is better)
• One rubber stamp
• Suitable ink (I used Stayzon)
• One small piece of Tissue Paper (preferably the same colour as your candle)
• One piece of Greaseproof paper, no taller than your candle but enough to go all the way around, and then some, as you will need enough to grip tightly in your hand when heating commences.
• Colouring medium (pens or pencils are better but check on small area before colouring image)
• Heat gun

First of all make sure that the stamped image will be no bigger than the height of your candle once stamped.  Then stamp the image onto the tissue paper, I could only find baby pink...no white anywhere! But I think I got away with it??? (you might want to stamp it a couple of times just in case you make a mistake) and colour it in (I used ProMarkers).  Once the image has been stamped and you have finished colouring it in, carefully cut around the image, leaving only a very small border around the outside.  When the image is completely cut out place it onto the candle.

Take your greaseproof paper and place it carefully over the top of the image being careful not to move it and then pull the greaseproof paper taut over the image.  Gripping the paper tightly around the candle, switch on your heat gun and let it warm up a little, then run it over the top of the image for just long enough so that the image melts into the candle (take care not to hold the heat gun in one place for too long as this will distort the candle. We just want to melt it slightly so that the tissue paper melts into the surface.  Carefully remove the greaseproof paper and voila... you're done.

In true Blue Peter fashion...here's one I made earlier...  I then wrapped it in some florist's cellophane and added a pretty bow (see photograph).  The perfect handmade gift for my friend Claire, who celebrated her birthday today and has very kindly volunteered to accompany me to the hospital tomorrow so I don't have to be alone (Steve has to work).

Mice to see you...

This lovely little House Mouse stamp has always been a favourite of mine, but I put it away for a little while and now I have taken it out of storage again. I coloured the image with my Copic's and then 'glazed' the doughnut with my clear glaze. I then stamped and coloured the image a second time and cut it out with my scalloped circle nestabilities and mounted it onto foam pads. I then mounted the whole thing onto a larger scalloped circle and stuck it to the pink flowered background paper.

I then stamped my 'thank you ever so much' greeting in the corner to finish.

Birthday Blues (Or not...)

This is one of a few images that Sarn sent me a while ago (probably a year or more!) and I never found a use for. Well now my little girl has a pet rat and it came in really handy. This was card was made for 'Soxy' to give to Lianne. Kept the card really simple again, using only a handful of colours to break up the blues.

You're Retiring

This is a House Mouse card. I don't own many House Mouse stamps but I loved this one soooooo much I had to have it. It colours perfectly and the grapes look great either in green or purple. This is a card for someone retiring! Doh! D'ya think?

House Mouse

I love this image, those little meeces are just too too sweet. This is an image sent me to by Sarn and I watercoloured it and added glitter where the water droplets are. Mounted several times and then added a scalloped circle with a birthday sentiment.

Here's a close up of the image. Isn't it lovely...

Doughnutty

I made this card for my friends daughter who is three tomorrow. Then I thought 'God I hope the flower will be alright, as I remembered what my two were like for pulling things off. Although I'm sure that Michelle will be a smart mum and not let her play with it.

Her name is Ella Grace and I was going to do a giant 'EG' but then I thought it might be too much so I kept it simple and just put her name on it.

The stamp is by Stampabilities, House-Mouse and is called 'Donut Bliss' Muzzy. Usually I would add a clear gloss to the glaze on the doughnut but I've run out, although I don't think a three year old would appreciate it anyway.
