Highclere Decoupage

I made this card a little while ago but Darren, my boss was so pleased with it, that I wanted to share it with you.

He had arranged to take his partner Jayne, to Highclere House (where Downton Abbey is filmed and located) for her Birthday, last month, as she is a big fan. So of course I had to make the card all about that.

I downloaded a picture of Highclere and printed it off three times. I then used the more prominent parts of the image to decoupage it. The picture doesn't really do it any justice but like I said, I had to share it with you as not only was Darren pleased with it, but I got a 'tip' too. How cool is that???

The inside of the card was the same image but very printed very feint and over the image was the itinerary for the day, which began with her breakfast, a wonderfully relaxing massage followed by the tour of the house and the gardens and then a lovely lunch. She's a very lucky lady. I'm sure that the only other thing that could have made her day more perfect would have been if Alexander Skarsgard had been doing the massage himself.

Art Deco Day

Hello girls (and fellow crafters)
Just a quickie for today. Well not so much a quickie as it took me a while to make, but I wanted to share it with you all as I really love it. 

I was asked to make an art deco kinda card for my friend, Sharon's, Mum.  So I got a picture of an art deco lady and coloured her using a pale blue and silver combo.

I used some blue circled DP from My Minds Eye as my base and then mounted the image onto black mirri card and then mounted it again onto the blue sparkle adhesive. I then mounted it again onto the black to make a nice frame. I cut the letters out of the same blue sparkle adhesive and stuck them down.

When I had finished colouring in the lady, I then added some feathers, pins and flowers to her hat with my trusty heated glue gun. Job done.

I was so pleased with the card that I now have to make another one for my mum as I know she would love it.

Sapphire Wedding Anniversary

Hello again fellow crafters.

My friend Carolyn, asked me to make a card for her parents 45th Sapphire Wedding Anniversary so I put my thinking cap on and, although it doesn't have any Sapphire on it, I hope it will suffice? I tried it with a navy blue background but it just looked odd, so I decided to keep the layout sketch really simple and go for Sepia and Cream with a splash of Green.

Okay, so here's what I did:  Carolyn gave me a photograph of her parents that I scanned and edited to change the colour to Sepia. I then ran the image through my Big Shot with my large scalloped nestabilities. I printed the text directly onto the cardstock. I added some black ribbon (from my stash) to the centre and then mounted the photograph together with the flowers and the flourishes. To finish the card off, I added 1mm cream pearls to each of the scallops (the ones that were visible anyway).

The verse inside the card, reads as follows:

A marriage made in heaven, 
is beautiful and rare.
And brings a life of happiness, 
just like the one you share.
Your trust in one another,
is a very precious thing.
And you deserve a lovely day, 
for all the joy you bring.

Peaches and Cream

Following on the PLEATS theme but not entering this one into the Crazy 4 Fun Challenge, this is a really cute image that was purchased from e-bay (due to it's cuteness and unavailability anywhere!!!), I carried on with pleating the ribbon as I thought the effect on the previous card was really effective and very pretty, what a wonderful idea (not mine, all credit goes to Mercy Kerin, DT member of Crazy 4 Challenges Blog).

Anyway, I'm also a really big fan of sepia and although I couldn't accurately re-create this with the cardstock I have at home, I did have some really pale pinky beige card and the flower. The lips on the ribbon are maybe a little two pink but believe me it looks really nice in real life, the photo really isn't doing it very much justice. Lianne, my daughter, asked me to make it for her friend Sharna, whose birthday it is tomorrow and she had forgotton to ask me to make one, so I had to do a little bit of a rush job, but I still like it though.

Lianne liked it and as it was she who commissioned it AND has actually paid me to do it (ha ha ha lol) she was pleased with the overall finished result.
